BACKCOUNTRY FLIGHT FEES (Fall Hunting): Our hunts are the
traditional pack-in type with horse and mules. Due to the remoteness, it
is necessary to fly into our area. Clients will pay all flying fees during
their hunt, which will include round trip transportation plus transportation
of all groceries, camp supplies, meat and trophies. Backcountry flight
fee costs in 2008 averaged $550.00 per person for round trip
transportation. On the low side clients paid $495.00 per person and on
the high side $673.00 per person, depending on the amount of supplies
needed, weather conditions and the amount of game taken. These fees
will be paid directly to the flying service by credit card or cash.
TRANSPORTATION: As part of our service, we pick up and return our
guests to the Missoula, Montana airport. If you will be driving, plan on
arriving in Salmon, Idaho the day before your trip begins. Upon booking
a hunt, you will receive a detailed travel itinerary to aid you in making
your travel plans.
DEPOSITS: A deposit of 25% (partial deposit) or 50% (full deposit) the
total cost of the trip is required to reserve your dates.
-Most deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE, but we will consider any
instance on a case-by-case basis.
-On cancellations 6 months or more in advance, deposits will be
transferred to a future trip.
PAYMENTS: A personal check is acceptable for payment of the deposit.
Please, no personal checks for final payment unless received one
month prior to your hunt dates. Final payment upon arrival must be
made with a cashier's check or a money order. Cash is not a good idea
in the backcountry.

*Important Information
All hunts are for 5 point or better bull elk (minimum age 3 ½
years). The point restriction is Dave Hettinger Outfitting’s rule, not
an Idaho Fish & Game regulation. We do this to preserve the age
structure of our bull population. This will appeal to some
sportsmen and others will go elsewhere because of it.
We prefer handling a total of 4-5 hunters per hunt utilizing 2
camps throughout the season. Non-hunters are definitely
welcome if they enjoy this type of outdoor activity. Cost for non-
hunters $1,500.00.
Hunters sharing guides must have their own partner.
Idaho trips are subject to 6% sales tax. Our advertised prices DO
NOT include this fee. Book your hunt by December 31, for the
upcoming season with a 25% deposit and we WILL INCLUDE the
sales tax in the above prices. A $330.00 - $408.00 SAVINGS!
